La mayor parte de las salas que emiten películas en 3D Digital actualmente lo hacen con el sistema de proyección RealD. Este sistema necesita un solo proyector, y no dos como el 3D convencional, lo cual evita una gran inversión.
El sistema RealD evita la utilización de dos proyectores al intercalar una imagen diferente para cada ojo, a gran velocidad, y repitiéndolas hasta tres veces sin variar la frecuencia de imagen del formato cinematográfico (los 24 fotogramas por segundo). Con la ayuda de gafas debidamente polarizadas, percibimos la sensación de perspectiva y por lo tanto el efecto 3D.
3D, una nueva esperanza para productoras y salas de proyección
El número de largometrajes grabados con esta tecnología, así como el número de salas que emiten en 3D digital está en constante crecimiento. Se busca con ello la reafirmación de las salas de cine, que hasta ahora venían sufriendo un retroceso en cuanto a público, y por lo tanto en recaudaciones.
Es evidente que esta pérdida de espectadores se debe, en gran parte, a la piratería, aunque también consideramos justo atribuir parte de esta responsabilidad a la propia industria del cine, ya que en la última década, el número de guiones originales ha bajado drásticamente, dando paso a continuas proyecciones de “remakes”, secuelas y adaptaciones de otras obras.
Confiamos que esta nueva tecnología suponga una válvula de escape para productoras de cine y salas de proyección.
Televisión en 3D, la nueva generación.
Otra gran noticia relacionada con el tema es el lanzamiento de nuevos modelos de televisores 3D, que grandes compañías como Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba o LG entre otras, anunciaron en el CES 2010 (Exposición comercial de tecnología internacional).
Éstos serán de un mayor número de pulgadas y menor amplitud y, por supuesto, de alta definición. En un gran número de modelos no será necesario el uso de gafas polarizadas. Estos nuevos televisores serán perfectamente compatibles con la señal de vídeo 2D tradicional y con la TDT-HD.
También se espera poder ver nuevos formatos de vídeo, como el nuevo Blue-Ray 3D, con películas grabadas nativamente en ese formato y de gran calidad. En nuestro país se prevén las primeras emisiones en 3D en fase de pruebas a partir del próximo año (2011), en TVC (la televisión autonómica de Catalunya). Así mismo, la ESPN (empresa de televisión por cable norteamericana) anunció la emisión en 3D de la Copa del Mundial de Fútbol de Sudáfrica.
Algunos fabricantes como Toshiba y Samsung han hablado de una posible conversión del contenido audiovisual 2D a 3D, aunque la algoritmia necesaria para llevar a cabo este proceso de conversión ha sido calificado como de “realmente complicado” por especialistas del sector.
Conclusión
Con todo esto hay quien augura una gran renovación y resurgimiento de los cines, así como la popularización e implantación de la televisión 3D en los hogares, aunque los más escépticos opinan que se trata de una moda pasajera, que no trascenderá más que unos años. Sólo el tiempo lo dirá pero, por el momento, todo parece ir viento en popa teniendo como referencia los beneficios de películas como Avatar, actualmente segunda película más lucrativa de la historia sólo por detrás de Titanic, pasando los mil millones de dólares de recaudación en apenas dos meses desde su estreno, y pretendiendo llegar a la cifra histórica de los dos mil millones.
